Introduction from Professor Alan Duncan, Head, Nottingham School of Economics
Leverhulme Centre for Research on Globalisation and Economic Policy (GEP)
Thank you for your interest in the post of GEP Director and Chair of International Economics at the Nottingham School of Economics. GEP is the foremost centre for research on globalisation and economic policy, housed in one of the elite economics departments for research in Europe. I am delighted that you have shown an interest in this position. I hope the information here gives some insight into the nature of the role and the outstanding opportunity it provides for research leadership and career enhancement.
The research standing of the Nottingham School of Economics was reinforced by the UK Research Assessment Exercise for 2008, which ranked its 'research power' among the top three in the country. During the next period of the School's development, our aspiration is to enhance our international reputation for research scholarship of the highest quality. The position of GEP Director is integral to that strategy. As Director, you would provide the intellectual, strategic and operational leadership to develop the GEP Research Centre's national and international standing in its field of research. You will develop working relationships with an outstanding team of academic collaborators and with colleagues within the policy-making community. With support from the School and the University, you would play a coordinating role in shaping the Centre's research, development and outreach strategies.
If you are excited by the challenge and the opportunities of this senior position, and are keen to play a leading role in shaping the future success of GEP and the Nottingham School of Economics, then we look forward to hearing from you.
Professor Alan Duncan
