Job Purpose: To lead the Leverhulme Centre for Research on Globalisation and Economic Policy (GEP). To enhance and develop GEP in order to maintain and progress its standing nationally and internationally. To identify future research potential, add to existing strengths and acquire funding to ensure continuity and expansion.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Develop strategies that will enable GEP to enhance its profile as a nationally and internationally recognised research centre in its field.
- Identify and establish productive and sustainable links with potential research partners, external collaborators and the UK policy-making community.
- Generate funding to sustain and enhance the development of GEP.
- Provide academic leadership within the School and particularly within the GEP Research Centre.
- To identify and establish productive and sustainable links with potential public and commercial partners regionally, nationally
- Develop strategic planning within GEP.
- Contribute to strategic planning within the School.
- Contribute to the marketing and external relations strategies of the School.
- Establish and develop a programme of research within the School which complements and adds to the School’s internationally recognised research activities and particularly those of the Leverhulme Centre for Research on Globalisation and Economic Policy (GEP).
- Support the School’s research income generation plans by seeking external funding for the post holder's programme of research.
- Further the School's research reputation through publication of the results of research in high quality international journals.
- Disseminate the results of research in specialist and non-specialist publications outlets, and through national and international workshops, conferences and seminars.
- Develop teaching materials for lectures, tutorials and classes for the School's undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
- Give lectures, tutorials and classes on the School's undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
- Provide supervision for Masters and PhD students in the preparation of dissertations.
- Participate fully in the School's examination process through the preparation and marking of examinations and coursework and through participation in examination boards.
- Act as a personal tutor for undergraduate and postgraduate students and support their courses of study.
- Assist in the administration and leadership of the School's teaching and research activities through taking on specific administrative duties, membership of School Committees (including acting as Chair of committees) and participation in School meetings.
- Any other duties appropriate to the grade and role of the person appointed as required by the Head of the School.
